Classroom Update

Sorry for the delay in blog updates.  It has been a busy few weeks for me outside of school.
As most of you know, I was off for a week due to a family emergency.  My son had surgery at the Children's Hospital and needed his appendix removed.  We are so very grateful for the amazing care he received at the hospital.  Thank you all so much for your kind wishes and support :) I am happy to report Keagan is healing well and back at school.

It has been wonderful to be back in the classroom with your children again.  I feel very lucky that I get to do two jobs that I love, be a mom & teach.  We have such a great little classroom of learners, it has been a joy and honor to teach them this year.  Anyway, here is an update for you on what has been going on in Grade One.

We have been having so much fun, watching, observing and learning about the caterpillars in our classroom.  First thing in the morning, all of the learners go and check on our little caterpillars.  We are now the proud parents of one butterfly!  4 caterpillars are in the chrysalis stage.   So we are hoping to see more butterflies tomorrow.

The learners have been very keen to learn all about butterflies.  So we are doing caterpillar measurement, butterfly writing, and even butterfly art.  It's been a busy week of learning in our classroom.  Please enjoy some pictures of our learning.

Yesterday we all enjoyed a big soccer game.  It was our class vs. Ms. Petrie's class.  The learners were happy to report that our class won 4-3.  It was a close game, full of laughter and fun.  I think Ms. Petrie's class will be requesting a rematch next week ;)

We have also been working on some very special art projects this week for some wonderful dads, grandpas and uncles.  The learners are excited to take home their special projects tomorrow.

Have a great night!

Warm Regards,
Mrs. Lai
