Richard Young the Magician

We were excited to welcome back Richard Young to our school on Friday.  Richard Young is a teacher, magician, and a magical guest speaker.  The learners love watching his amazing magic shows.  In his performance today, we learned about:

  • the 5 senses
  • how our senses contribute to our safety
  • that our senses have limitations, and identify situations where our senses might mislead us (optical illusions, tasting with a plugged nose)
  • other living things have senses
  • police officers use dogs to help them, because their sense of smell is so good
  • A falcon can see a mouse walking in the grass 1 km away
  • echo location
  • ultra violet lights
  • perspective, is when something is far away looks small.  For example, an airplane in the sky looks small.
  • how to take care of our senses (wearing sunglasses, wearing a face mask, not listening to loud music).
A very important message we learned today was if you take care of your senses, your senses will take care of you.

Have a great weekend!

Warm Regards,
Mrs. Lai
